Doctors to walkout of all public hospitals on Wednesday
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican medical association (CMD) and other health sector guilds on Monday announced a nationwide walkout next Wednesday in public and Dominican Social Security Institute (IDSS) hospitals to demand a wage increase and other benefits.
They said the key to stop the strike and improve the health workers’ labor conditions is in president Danilo Medina’s hands.
Quoted by local media, CMD president Waldo A. Suero said during the 24-hour strike, the doctors will only attend emergencies and critically ill patients.
The walkout set for Wednesday will be the third within the last seven days, with the first two staged in the north and south regions.
