Claro to increase investment
According to Claro (America Movil) CEO Daniel Hajj Aboumrad, the company will invest US$600 million in the Dominican Republic over the next three years. The announcement was made during a meeting held on Tuesday, 4 October 2016 between Hajj and President Danilo Medina, also attended by Claro Dominicana president Oscar Pena.
Hajj said that USS200 million a year would be allocated to rolling out broadband and LTE networks, among other priorities.
Claro remains the clear market leader in the mobile sector with 4.52 million lines at the end of the first quarter of 2016, followed by Orange Dominicana/Altice with 3.61 million and Trilogy Dominicana with 415,196, according to figures issued by telecom regulator Indotel.
