The organizers of the Caribbean Series taking place in Santo Domingo announced that the Homerun Derby that had been set for tomorrow, Wednesday, 3 February 2016 as part of the Caribbean Series has been cancelled. The reason was that the organizers could not come up with the US$1.5 million insurance policy demanded by the Major League Ball Players Union to allow batters David Ortiz, Miguel Cabrera and Robinson Cano to play. The Caribbean Series is taking place matching the winning teams of Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic through 7 February 2016.
