Bartolo Colon passes Pedro Martinez in wins

After submitting to regenerative medicine therapy, Bartolo Colon now has outlasted Pedro Martinez in wins in Major League Baseball. Pitching for his 220th win at the ripe old age of 42, New York Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon is now only behind US Baseball Hall of Fame member Juan Marichal who recorded 243 victories in his career.

The US sports media marveled at how Colon is now in his 19th professional season and, after his start and win against the Atlanta Braves on Monday 2 May 2016, he now has a 2.56 ERA.

With his 4-1 win, Colon overtook Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez on the all-time wins list. ESPN reporter Adam Rubin comments that only Juan Marichal has more wins. After Colon, Pedro Martinez (219), the others are Pedro Martinez’s brother Ramon Martinez (135) and Pedro Astacio (129) for the top five Dominican pitchers of all time in Major League Baseball.
