His name is Volker Gruber. . . Volker is now 56 years old. This is a passport picture taken before he was arrested 12 years ago. He made the biggest mistake of his life when he boarded a plane with 3.6 Kilos of Cocaine in 2005. He was what is known as a mule. He never was a dealer or a user.
This was the first time he ever did anything like this.
He was desperately broke at the time and wanted to return to Germany. The drug dealers used him as a diversion he found out later. They informed on him so that the police would be occupied and the people with the larger amounts would get through without a problem.
What they do is they add a bunch of other base material to the cocaine mixture so that it costs them very little to lose it to the authorities. But when it is tested it is cocaine.
Volker received an extremely harsh 20 year sentence.
His 20 year prison sentence is far more than anyone on record has received in the Dominican Republic that was charged with a similar crime.
Volker Gruber is guilty and he knows that what he did was wrong and he is not making any excuses. He knowingly committed the crime he was charged with. He is pleading for some big hearted good person to help him at this point in his life. Any reasonable person would agree that he has paid a terrible price for his mistake. He is looking for someone to step forward and help him obtain a conditional release which he has qualified for under the terms of his sentence
Volker has met all of the requirements to be released for what is called conditional early release. Under the conditional terms of release a prisoner has to report to the court once ever month and sign a document. He has to remain law abiding or he will be returned to prison to complete the sentence with no further consideration.

    Please NOTE:
This website is in no way intended to disparage the Dominican Legal system.
The sole purpose it to try and help a man that desperately needs a helping hand.
The Judges hands are tied without a qualified guarantor coming forward.

Volker Gruber meets all of the requirements for early release.

    1. He has an exemplary record in prison.
    Never causing any problems.

    2. He has studied and passed educational courses

    3. He has worked as a trustee in the kitchen and construction
    details in the prison.

Volker worked at a travel office in Sosúa as a travel guide for five years before his arrest. After about 4,500 days in San Felipe Prison Puerto Plata eating rice and beans I am sure you will agree he has paid a huge price for his mistake.

There are many examples of people that had far more drugs and they received a sentence of 8 or 9 years. As time has passed the sentencing guidelines have been substantially reduced.

He is looking for what is called a “Guarantor”
This is a person in good standing in the community. A property owner. A person that will offer him a job possibly but not necessarily. Someone that has met with him and got to know him. The guarantor is required to advise the court if Volker is not behaving himself. The Guarantor is not at any risk of reprisals by the court for Volker’s actions.

Volker Gruber has a small income from the German government
and is eager to find honest employment if it can be arranged.

Consider helping this man get back to freedom.
I will be glad to answer any questions or concerns that you may have about what is involved.
San Felipe Prison is located in Puerto Plata and houses about 650 prisoners. One hour visits are allowed every Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
