Another propane gas station explodes, 5 reported injuries
Santo Domingo.- A propane gas station exploded Thursday morning in the Alma Rosa sector of Santo Domingo Este, with Police reporting 5 injuries thus far, one in delicate condition. The blast at Mario Gas is the third of a propane gas station in less than one month, after the explosions that killed three people in Santo Domingo’s Los Rios sector and another in the city of Santiato, with no one hurt.
The gas station Sol Gas in Los Rios, National District caught fire and exploded on February 16, with around one dozen hurt, three of whom later died. The blast also toppled and damaged several homes and torched vehicles.
At least five of the seven people treated at the Arias Lora Hospital for burns sustained in a blast Thursday at propane gas station in Santo Domingo Este are in critical condition. Most of the patients sustained second and third degree burns over 60% of their body when tanker truck exploded and caught fire at the Mariot Gas Burn Unit specialist Dr. Eddy Bruno Vizcaino said the patients’ condition is “very critical.” Surgery was performed on one of the five patients, after a diagnose acute renal failure.
