American Airlines Announces New Flight Between Chicago/Punta Cana
American Airlines recently launched a weekly flight from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Punta Cana.
The new Saturday flight will be on a Boeing 737-800, with capacity for 150 passengers.
Frontier and United Airlines also fly to Punta Cana, one of the Caribbean’s most important destinations, from O’Hare International.
Southwest Airlines operates a similar flight, but from Chicago’s Midway International Airport.
Between January-December 2015 approximately 1.2 million U.S. citizens traveled to the Dominican Republic through Punta Cana’s international airport.
In 2014, that number was some 1.1 million tourists and 946,853 in 2013.
The numbers demonstrate a healthy yearly growth in the number of American tourists visiting the Punta Cana region.
