A record 4 Dominican hurlers in Major League openers
Santo Domingo.- An unprecedented four Dominican hurlers will pitch in the opening games for their teams in the majors slated for April 4: Francisco Liriano, Edinson Volquez, Ervin Santana and Wily Peralta.
It will be the first time that Peralta, a Samana native, will be starting pitcher in an opening game, in which he will face the San Francisco Giants
While Liriano will open for the third time in a row for the Pittsburgh Pirates, this time against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Volquez, of the Kansas City Royals will go against the New York Mets, while Santana, of the Baltimore Orioles will pitch against the Washington Nationals.
