2016 general election stats

In the 2015 general elections, 6,906,683 citizens are eligible to vote, 3.34% more than in the 2012 presidential election. This is an additional 203,448 voters. Of the total, 3,410,723 are women (50.86%) and 3,295,693 are men (49.14%). There will be 16,067 voting stations located in 4,381 voting centers.

4,106 elective posts will be decided in 32 provinces and the National District. This includes 158 municipalities. The positions are 32 senators, 178 deputies, 20 Parlacen (Central American Parliament) deputies with 20 replacements, seven overseas deputies and five national deputies, 3,842 positions at the municipal level.

The presidential candidates are: Danilo Medina (PLD), Luis Abinader (PRM), Guillermo Moreno (Alianza Pais), Pelegrin Castillo (FNP), Elias Wessin Chavez (PQDC), Soraya Aquino (PUN), Hatuey de Camps (PRSD) and Minou Tavarez Mirabal (APD).

The top 10 voting provinces are:

Santo Domingo: 1,397,121 (20.22%)

National District: 733,491 (10.62%)

Santiago: 699,430 (10.13%)

San Cristobal: 373,702 (5.4%)

La Vega: 285,150 (4.12%)

Puerto Plata 227,233 (3.29%)

Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris): 215,829 (3.12%)

San Pedro de Macoris: 197,078 (2.85%)

San Juan de la Maguana: 169,069 (2.45%)

La Romana: 161,643 (2.34%)
