US Coast guard search for man overboard
The United States Coast Guard is still searching for an Irish tourist who is thought to have fallen or jumped from a cruise ship on Monday, 13 April 2015. The ship left La Romana the same day.
According to the Coast Guard, the missing passenger is Dominic William O’Carroll, 67, who was on the Horizon cruise ship operated by Croisieres de France.
Around 5am, when the ship left La Romana on its way to St. Martin passing by Puerto Rico, a crew member spotted someone or something falling into the ocean and shortly afterwards a check of the passengers confirmed that O’Carroll was missing. This happened around 16 nautical miles south of the Puerto Rican island of Vieques.
A helicopter from the Puerto Rican Coast Guard Air Station, a patrol boat and a Coast Guard ship are taking part in the search along with a boat from the St. Thomas station.
