Two massive ships visit Amber Cove Port
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.- Amber Cove tourist terminal on Tuesday morning received two colossal transatlantic cruise ships that brought nearly 6,000 passengers and 2,330 crew to Maimon Bay Puerto Plata.
The first ship to arrive, the Carnival Splendor brought around 3,000 tourists and 150 crew members, while the second, Carnival Valor carries around 2,980 passengers and 180 crew.
Both cruises departed Sunday from the ports of Charleston and Miami, and will stay at Amber Cove around 8 hours, according to Tourism Deputy minister Julio Almonte.
Since early Tuesday hundreds of Dominican law enforcement agents were deployed around the areas where the cruise passengers visit, to ensure safety and prevent incidents near Amber Cove, which receives two ships at once for the first time since inaugurated last week.
