Time to get car transit stickers “Marbete”
The Tax Agency (DGII) began the sale of the vehicular driving permit sticker known as the “marbete” today, Thursday 1 October 2015. This will last through 8 January 2016. The stickers, which cost RD$1,200 for vehicles from 2010 and older and RD$2,200 for newer models, are being sold at 456 points nationwide, including 700 selected bank branches. Renewals can also be made online using the DGII website. A copy of the vehicle registration and ID of the owner or RNC of the owner-company must be presented in order to carry out the renewal.
The DGII says that as of December 2014 there were 3,398,662 vehicles in the country, including 741,583 cars, 84,772 buses, 332,788 SUVs and 381,389 goods vehicles. There were 1,803,328 motorcycles, 19,400 dump trucks, 20,458 heavy machinery vehicles and 14,944 others.
