Three-week ban for bogus 911 callers
The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) has authorized telephone service providers to temporarily suspend services to anyone who abuses the 911 system by making obscene, insulting or hoax calls.
All Dominican telecommunications companies were informed of the decision and callers misusing the 911 system will be blocked from using it for a three-week period. The telecoms companies were told they should notify users of the ban 72 hours in advance.
