The work on construction and expansion of the road Puerto Plata – Maimon suspended
PUERTO PLATA For several weeks, construction work and expansion of the road Puerto Plata – Maimon has been paralyzed, for debts to the construction company, as well to the heavy vehicle drivers who work on the project.
This was denounced by President Trucking Association Borough Maimon; Osiris Tejada, to ensure that the expectations that were created in those jobs vanished.
Tejada said the heavy equipment company in charge of building work were surprisingly removed from the community and taken to another place, without any given explanation.
“We hope that the work will be resumed for the benefit of those who pass through the area and for those who eat off that work,” said the leader of the truckers Maimon.
In the same vein, he asked the Minister of Public Works; Gonzalo Castillo Terrero, to make late payments, to thereby resume the construction of this important road linking the province of Puerto Plata with Santiago and other cities in the region.
The Maimon Puerto Plata road is 8.4 kilometers and currently has two lanes and is the first stage of the Navarrete-Puerto Plata 44.5 km route, although it is recalled that the work of road infrastructure was historically demanded by Puerto Plata.
