The City College of New York to train Dominican math teachers
The Ministry of Education has announced an agreement between the Salome Urena Higher Institute of Teacher Training (Isfodosu) and the City College of New York (CCNY) to train Dominican public school teachers in sciences and mathematics. CCNY president Lisa Staiano-Coico and Isfodosu rector Julio Sanchez Marinez signed the agreement, and the deputy minister for technical services of the Ministry of Education (Minerd) Luis Enrique Matos also attended the signing in New York City.
The agreement also includes cooperation in research programs and teacher exchanges.
A group of public school teachers will travel to New York for teacher training in mathematics in June 2015. This is a follow-up to a first group that attended a sciences training workshop in June 2014.
Isfodosu is the training division of the Ministry of Education.
