Tender for oil supply set for 2016
Minister of Energy and Mines Pelegrin Castillo has announced that in 2016 the Dominican government will be ready to call a tender for inviting international oil companies interested in carrying out explorations in the country. He said the National Hydrocarbons Database would have been completed by then. The Schlumberger company is carrying out the study. The winner of the tender may start research at the Bahia de Ocoa, Azua, Elias Pina, San Juan de la Maguana, Barahona and other southern provinces, as well as at the platform of San Pedro de Macoris and the eastern part of the Cibao. He said that around 1,700 km of land surface would be explored.
