Students to get a longer holiday
The National Education Council has decided to delay the return to school in all schools across the country until 7 January 2016, even though this year the Three Kings’ Day (Epiphany) will be celebrated on Monday 4 rather than 6 January, which this year falls on a Wednesday. The reason given for the delay to return to school is so children can enjoy their holidays with their parents, family and friends.
The decision was made following a proposal from Education Minister and chairman of the National Education Council, Carlos Amarante Baret, which was approved by all council members. The original plan was for schools to reopen on Tuesday 5 January 2016.
