Sosua businessman complains about abuse of authority against his family
PUERTO PLATA – A known trader of Sosua; Zoilo Benítez, yesterday accused a group of prosecutors and agents of Tourism Security Specialist Corps (CESTUR) of violating his civil rights and the rights of his children, when they had the nerve to pave his residence without a warrant.
Benitez who is the owner of Supermarket Zoilo, located on Calle Pedro Clisante, Sosua, accused members of the Public Ministry who without a court order proceeded to make a raid on his properties on Saturday.
“This is an aggression by the authorities against my family I feel trampled and treated as a drug trafficker by two members of the Public Ministry that by a large police contingent CESTUR, raided my home and my business on Saturday but also conducted raids in all of my children houses and a small hotel, without any judicial submit and uttering threats and pressures, “he said.
Don Zoilo Benítez who is a prominent trader, almost 80 years old and head of one of the most respected families of Sosua, explained that before this outrage against him, he had asked his lawyers to file suit against the Tax Attorney of Puerto Plata.
In that same order, he asked the Attorney General’s Office; Francisco Dominguez Brito, to investigate his family and check that they are not criminals, because what they experienced last Saturday is the worst insult and humiliation he could get.
