Relief Organizations in Puerto Plata are having critical times as they have no ambulances
PUERTO PLATA The president of the Dominican Red Cross in Puerto Plata; Doña Sonia Hurtado de Morales, reported that relief agency has not had an ambulance vehicle for months, as it had been damaged, and never repaired.
Hurtado de Morales said that the ambulance truck had 14 years of service, so it caught the attention of government officials so they could take some actions towards changing this deficiency, as not only the Dominican Red Cross needs an ambulance, but also the Civil Defense, firefighters and other services of Puerto Plata.
Every time when a traffic accident is recorded in Puerto Plata, the wounded are transported like animals in trucks without any care or the procedure required to prevent a broken bone, or internal bleeding.
It is time that President Danilo Medina becomes aware of the deplorable situation experienced by relief agencies, as now when everyone is speaking about tourism revival in Puerto Plata, it is urgent that this situation changes.
