Quiet day at the Dajabon bi-national market
The Dajabon bi-national market passed quietly on Monday 26 October 2015, with a marked reduction in the number of buyers or sellers from Haiti.
According to Dominican stallholders, the low attendance resulted from the confusion that arose when the border was closed on Sunday 25 October 2015 due to the Haitian presidential, legislative and municipal elections being held.
The leader of the Bi-national Market Stallholders Association, Abigail Bueno said that they were hoping for a better attendance this Friday, 30 October 2015. He went on to say that the small number of Haitians who did make purchases did not have them confiscated by Haitian border officials as was the case last week.
