Puerto Plata highway expansion has begun
The Ministry of Public Works has begun work to expand the Maimon-Puerto Plata highway to four lanes. The highway will improve traffic flow from the new Carnival Cruise Amber Cove cruise ship port to the city of Puerto Plata and other northern tourism attractions. Minister of Public Works Gonzalo Castillo says that the highway will be also extended to four lanes on the Maimon-Navarrete section of the road. The cruise port will be inaugurated on 6 October 2015.
