Prosecutors prepare “weak” case against Carbone
Canadian media says that Dominican prosecutors have prepared a weak case in the attempted murder accusations against Canadian casino mogul Antonio Carbone. Carbone is accused of fraud by Canadian multi-billionaire Michael De Groote. The two were involved in a network of gambling facilities in the Dominican Republic, Dream Casino.
As reported in CBC.ca, media investigations have found that the case against him is largely based on information that a key witness and the alleged victim himself now contradict.
As reported by Fifth Este, there are key details in the Santo Domingo district attorney’s case against Carbone that appear to be based on some factual errors and are contradicted by other evidence and what a key witness is now saying. The situation questions the strength of the case against the Toronto-area businessman.
