President Medina inaugurates housing project in Punta Cana

President Danilo Medina, along with the Hoyo Claro Development Group consortium has inaugurated the first stage of a housing project called Las Cayenas City in the Punta Cana/Bavaro area.

The residential complex will consist of 3,500 units and the first 360 apartments are ready.

The apartments are aimed at working people and their families and will cost between RD$700,000 and RD$1,800,000, which they can obtain through finance and repay the loan for the same or similar monthly sum as they are currently paying in rent.

Las Cayenas City will also have green areas, schools, parks, shops and the whole range of basic services such as electricity, water and private security.

During the visit East, President Medina also broke ground for the construction of the Hostelry, Gastronomy and Pastry Infotep Center, for training of Punta Cana area hotel staff at the installations of the former government Hotel Naranjo in Higuey. The government vocational school will have capacity for 888 students in three shifts. It will have 12 classrooms and four workshops.

President Medina also visited Terminal A at the Punta Cana International Airport with its new migration area, duty free zones and VIP area. He also attended the ground breaking for the construction of an expansion at Club Med, including an area where 78 adults only rooms will be added.

President Medina was accompanied by Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia, Treasury Minister Simon Lizardo, BanReservas administrator Enrique Ramirez Paniagua, Hoyo Claro Development Group president Fred Oscar Imbert and Grupo Punta Cana CEO Frank Rainieri.

Also present were La Altagracia senator Amable Aristy Castro, Higuey mayor Karina Aristy, Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD) director Jean Alain Rodriguez, provincial governor Ramon Guilamo Alfonso, Presidential assistant Robert De la Cruz and the bishop of the diocese of de La Altagracia, Monsignor Gregorio Nicanor Pena.
