President Medina and Miguel Vargas to seal alliance on Monday
Santo Domingo.– Opposition Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) reported Friday afternoon that the alliance with ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) will be officially sealed on Monday for next year´s polls, in a ceremony where Dominican President Danilo Medina and PRD president Miguel Vargas Maldonado will intervene.
According to elnuevodiario.com.do, the event where the PLD-PRD alliance will be announced is scheduled for 5:00 pm at the Gran Teatro La Fiesta of Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino.
The event will also be attended by members of PRD’s Political Commission, members of the Political Committee and the Central Committee of PLD, as well as senators, deputies and mayors of both parties.
During a televised speech last June 15, Vargas said in view of a dispersed political opposition he accepted Medina’s proposal to forge a National Unity Government, and pointed out that the deal with Medina is based on a national project to transform, modernize and enact public policies to promote social inclusion for all Dominicans.
