Police gets biometric identification system to fight crime
The Central Electoral Board (JCE) has provided the National Police with a biometric identification system, the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), to compare fingerprints in seconds in order to identify criminals and prevent crime. JCE president Roberto Rosario personally handed over the equipment to Police chief Major General Nelson Peguero Paredes at the JCE last week. The new technology will enable the Police to identify an individual who has committed a crime if they have left fingerprints on a new crime scene.
