Police find murdered journalist Blas Olivo
The police announced yesterday, Monday 13 April 2015, that they had found the body of 64-year old journalist Blas Olivo, who was reported missing by his family on Sunday.
Olivo had attended a family event in Bonao that day and had left to return to Santo Domingo, but had said he would be back to pick up the family. When he didn’t return, the family called the police.
As reported, his silver Toyota Prado Land Cruiser was found in Arroyo Vuelta in Piedra Blanca and appeared to have been involved in an accident. The doors were closed and the keys were inside.
Several hours later, Olivo’s body was discovered in a farm by its owner, Jesus Lopez, near kilometer 64 of the Duarte highway with four gunshot wounds n two in the chest and two in the abdomen.
No further details have been given and his body was taken to the Forensic Science Institute in Santiago for autopsy.
Olivo had been employed as press director at the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD) for several years.
National Police Criminal Investigation Department (DICRIM) Officers are currently carrying out the investigation.
