Pedro Clisante will no longer be closed

From Saturday, January 10, 2015 the main street Pedro Clisante is no longer closed for traffic in the evenings. As before, you can again park your car in the street in front of the bars and restaurants. Mopeds, motorcycles and scooters can drive through the street, but must not park in the street, therefore motoconchos can not wait for their customersĀ at the disco clubs. The restaurant and bar owners can no longer put out their tables and chairs in the street.
Almost everyone got used to it the street being closed in the evenings, so many of the restaurant and bar owners are angry and disappointed by this decision of the municipality. It’s unclear who is behind the decision to keep the street open for traffic again.

Well that did not last long. It was of course getting other streets blocked.

  2. Stocker

Well, it was nice while it lasted. Now we can look forward to more motos doing wheelies as they hurtle the wrong way up the street and more cars blasting us with deafening music.

I’m not so sure Sosua is set up for that street blockage, as Samson noted.

There is only one way in, but it sure was nice while it lasted. Isn’t there a possiblity of setting up a committee to be able to look into these things? I know the Dominican natives rule the situation, but the expat community and the bar/restaurant owners contribute much to the economy of this little city and the country. Thinks we should all have a couple of rights, eh?
