Over 300,000 Dominicans expected home for the holidays
Santo Domingo.- Airports Dept. director Marino Collante on Monday said more than 300,000 Dominicans living abroad are expected to arrive the country through the various airports during December.
He said his agency coordinates security measures with the National Police to prevent assaults against Dominicans and foreign visitors on the Las Americas Highway, noting that criminals take advantage on the increased influx in December to rob arriving visitors and locals.
The official said he also coordinates security measures at airports with Civil Aviation and Airport Security Corp (CESAC) to protect facilities, aircraft, passengers and baggage.
Collante said Las Americas, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, La Romana, Santiago and El Higuero airports are prepared for the holiday arrivals.
