Nurse from Puerto Plata dies in Santiago clinic with symptoms of influenza AH1N1
PUERTO PLATA A nurse native of Puerto Plata passed away Thursday morning, with H1N1 flu symptoms when receiving medical care in a private clinic in Santiago de los Caballeros, the city had already reported several cases of that virus.
According to information provided by a member of the Dominican Medical College (CMD), the victim identified only by the name of Evelyn, was a woman aged 28 who was five months pregnant who got admitted to the intensive care of Union Medical Clinic in Santiago.
The complaint in this unfortunate event, was made by the president of the Dominican Medical College (CMD) in Puerto Plata; Dr. Johnny Rafael Tavarez, who alerted the authorities of the Ministry of Public Health about the spread of the viral disease.
The doctor told reporters, that at the private school where she works in Puerto Plata there has already been treated about 10 cases of influenza A and three are positive to H1N1 virus.
“What we say is that we must be alerted, officials of the Ministry of Health should put on pants to the possible spread of the H1N1 flu, because it is lethal,” said visibly worried renowned doctor.
According to reports from private health centers in Santiago, there have been several problems with flu patients, although the Ministry of Health didn’t want to refer to cases and when questioned by reporters , government health authorities kept a stony silence.
