Number of Brazilian Tourists to the D.R. Grows by More than 20% During the Last Two Years
The number of Brazilian tourists visiting the Dominican Republic has jumped by 20% during the last two years. The healthy growth in the number of Brazilians visiting the D.R. places the South American nation as the number one leader of South American tourists visiting the country. Analysts believe that approximately 600,000 Brazilians will have visited the D.R. during 2015. During 2014 the number of Brazilian tourists visiting the country jumped by 19% in comparison with 2013 figures. During the first nine months of this year growth soared by more than 24 percent.
Last year, some 552,635 South American tourists visited the D.R., a number that according to analysts will increase significantly by the end of 2015. The number of visitors from Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Peru has experienced a healthy growth during this year.
The country’s Ministry of Tourism recently participated, along with a significant number of private sector representatives, in the Tourism Festival of Gramado, in the state of Rio Grande Do Sul, with the goal of promoting the Dominican Republic as an attractive destination to Brazilians.
The Dominican delegation to the Gramado Fair was led by the Ministry’s Director of Promotion, Indira Jose, and the director of the Office of Tourism in Brazil, Rene Contreras.
