Nick Hardt from Sosua is in professional ATP Ranking
In March 2012 Nick Hardt from Sosúa reached the finals of World Junior Tennis Competition, which was held in El Salvador. He won the honorable 2nd place. At that time Nick Hardt was 12-year-old. Nick then played a few more tournaments in the Dominican Republic, all of which he ended winning. In early October 2012 Nick was invited by the Swiss tennis club Littauen to play the national club competition.
In the category to 12 years Nick won all the games easy. The competing clubs in the league protested and spoke of competition forgery. They also expressed doubts about the age of Nick. He would be much older than 12 years! Nick was prohibited to play. In January of 2013, Nick played two tournaments in the Dominican Republic, which he won and he played a tournament for 12 year olds in the USA. There he eventually lost the finals to the Russian Avidzba. His triumph continued in 2014 and 2015. He was twice champion in his age group from all over Latin America and the Caribbean! This year, Nick had a lot of success in tournaments in Santo Domingo, Guatemala, Mexico and El Salvador. Right now Nick, who has become 15 a few weeks ago, plays at the Copa Cibao in Santiago where his opponents are professionals. He is the youngest participant ever at this important and prestigious tournament. With the Tuesday December 1 match won, he has now earned a place in the professional ATP ranking. According to experts he is on the verge to be in the top 1000 best players of the world.
