Major road projects ready by end of October
Santo Domingo.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo on Tuesday said the government works to expedite the completion of several major road works before the end of president Danilo Medina´s current term in office.
He said Public Works has intervened 18,000 kilometers of back roads and 6,000 kilometers of roads in various parts of the country during his tenure. “We´ve tried to do works that really impact the country´s productive apparatus.”
Among the important works the official listed the three stages of the beltways around Santo Domingo and Santiago, the Southern Road Circuit, the reconstruction and widening of the Baní- Azua-Barahona road, and the Tourism Boulevard of the East.
Castillo said Public Works focuses on the construction of road infrastructure that will spur development in all regions as ease Greater Santo Domingo´s traffic as well.
In that regard the official affirmed that the third and final span of the Santo Domingo Beltway the overpass at the 27 de Febrero and Privada avenues will be opened by the end of October.
