Las Cañitas a residential area of Puerto Plata surviving in mud and filth
PUERTO PLATA The residents of the street Luis Espinosa of the populated area in the municipality Las Cañitas, Puerto Plata, reported that due to the lack of attention from the authorities they will have to meet yet another Christmas in the mud, sewage, and insalubrious conditions.
Wendy Montán who is a hotel worker and lives in there, said that “apparently the authorities of the City and the Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation of Puerto Plata (CORAAPPLATA) in Las Cañitas think human beings do not live in there, as neither brigades have been sent to this sector to carry out cleaning after the storm, nor there are sanitary drains.
Other citizens of the street Luis Espinosa, that expressed their grievances in relation to this problem are Rafael Santos and Carlos Rodriguez, who agreed that the people in Las Cañitas are at risk of being affected by viruses such as H1N1 influenza, the Zika, dengue, and other diseases that are on the rise right now, the authorities do nothing to prevent these terrible unhealthy conditions prevailing in the area.
“Directly, I want to tell the trustee of Walter Musa who remember when he was aspiring not promised the residents in Cañitas as soon as he took over the town hall, immediately undertake the paving and drainage of waste water, but since then 9 years have passed ,and he has not even walked through this neighborhood,” – said Rafael Santos, the aggravated citizen.
Also, several residents pointed out that the residential area is located a few meters from the historic center of Puerto Plata, so they are calling for rapid intervention of the authorities to solve this problem that deteriorates their every day life.
