Karim Benzema arrest related to Air Cocaine scandal
The newest development in the Air Cocaine scandal in France is the arrest of Real Madrid football player Karim Benzema. Benzema was charged with complicity in an attempt to blackmail and conspire to commit a criminal act related to his French teammate Mathieu Valbuena.
Le Point in France mentions links of the football player to the French Air Cocaine drug smuggling scandal.
The case is related to the two French pilots who have been arrested in France after they fled the Dominican judiciary after being sentenced to 20 years in jail for concealing cocaine in 26 suitcases that were placed on board a private plane they was scheduled to fly from Punta Cana to St. Tropez, France. The aborted flight was to be on the aircraft that has led to the Air Cocaine saga now followed in the European press.
Le Point has revealed that the number one suspect in the Air Cocaine case, an individual who is accused of having paid for and sponsored transatlantic flights to the Dominican Republic and Ecuador from France, was identified through his links with Karim Benzema.
The report says that the judge presiding over the case, Christine Ruellan-Saunier, has struggled to understand who had the financial capability to pay for several transatlantic flights costing hundreds of thousands of euros. Who could have access to 700kg of drugs in the Andean market and then transport them to Europe, making millions of euros in the process?, asks the media.
As reported, the alleged organizers of the flights, Frank Colin, and Nicolas Pisapia, a passenger who was arrested in Punta Cana in March 2013 and still remains under domiciliary arrest in the Dominican Republic, have maintained that the mastermind behind the transatlantic flights was an individual known as “Daryan” or “Rayan”, a football agent and a big football fan.
The report states that allegedly it was this individual who paid for the use of these planes. According to several people who met this mysterious person of interest and who have now testified before the investigators, “Rayan” appeared to live in Spain or Italy, in close proximity to Karim Benzema. Frank Colin has never revealed the true identity of “Rayan”, perhaps because he simply does not know, or perhaps out of fear.
