Juncalito-Janico road now paved
The Medina administration inaugurated the paving of the 24km of the Juncalito-Janico road, which winds through mountainous terrain in the Central highlands. The road construction project was overseen by the Office of Supervisory Works of the Presidency, now under its new director Pedro Pagan.
Those speaking at the inauguration highlighted that the road opens the way to ecological tourism, as it joins a farming region with city centers. Farming will also benefit greatly. Luis Nunez, president of the association of coffee producers of Juncalito, said that the productivity of the area coffee farms has been restored with the recently completed transplanting of 350,000 coffee plants with improved resistance to major coffee diseases.
The new road joins the communities of Bao, Cagueye, El Sillon, Sejita, La Vija, Guayabal and Dojima with Juncalito, San Jose de las Matas and Santiago.
In addition to the new road construction, the Medina administration inaugurated a primary care clinic in the area.
