Juan Luis Guerra will open amphitheater in Puerto Plata
The amphitheater, which is currently being constructed at the end of the Malecón (seafront) in Puerto Plata, may very likely be put into operation in mid-August. In order to make the opening a special event, the world famous artist Juan Luis Guerra with his band 4.40 has been contracted.
On request by the builder Rafael Silverio Galan (Kuky) the amphitheater will be called after Camilo Carrau. Camilo is a legendary resident of the port town of Puerto Plata and known as a great watercolorist, cartoonist, filmmaker and writer. The amphitheater will offer 5100 seats and provide a platform for music, theater, dance and movies. Puerto Plata has to become more attractive with this theater for tourists. The expectation is that the cruise ship passengers visiting Puerto Plata will also want to attend a performance at the theater. Whether the opening of the theater and attending the musical performance of Juan Luis Guerra will be free to the public, is still uncertain.
