JCE sets a 15 December deadline for new ID
Those who have not gotten their new ID (cedula) by 15 December 2015, will not be able to vote in the 15 May 2016 general election, says the Central Electoral Board (JCE), the government electoral commission. The old ID is already no longer valid for legal transactions in the Dominican Republic.
The JCE, which is also in charge of the civil registry, announced the launch of special advertising campaign to reach out to the remaining citizens who have yet renewed their IDs in the Dominican Republic or abroad.
