Interpol arrests foreigners
Three foreigners who had been hiding in the Dominican Republic as a way of evading justice in their own countries have been caught over the last couple of days by the National Police working for Interpol in Santo Domingo.
One was detained in the capital, another in Punta Cana and the third in Boca Chica.
Deszo Gosy from Hungary was convicted of fraud and was sentenced to a maximum of eight years in jail in 2013. He was deported to Hungary after being arrested outside a hotel in Veron, Punta Cana.
German national Oliver Reents was being sought for robbery by Interpol and faced a maximum 18 months jail sentence. He was caught in Boca Chica and escorted by German Federal Agents to Las Americas International Airport for deportation.
Slovenian Robert Casar, who is accused of corruption, was arrested in Bella Vista in Santo Domingo before being deported.
