Immigration ‘needs more funds’ to repatriate illegal aliens
Santo Domingo- Immigration director Jose Ricardo Taveras on Thursday said his agency needs more funds to enforce the immigration policy, after the deadline stipulated in the Plan to Regularize Foreigners expires on June 1.
Taveras, who didn’t specify how much funding his agency would need, said it couldn’t carry out its function with its current financial capacity.
The official said Immigration is ready to do its job once the Plan culminates,” but it’s up to the Government to provide details.”
He said the policy of repatriating migrants isn’t exclusively for Haitians, but for all foreigners who violate the border.
