Grade school graduates earn more than high school graduates
With the exception of vocational school graduates, high school graduates in general are less likely to find jobs than elementary school graduates in the Dominican Republic. The findings are from data analyzed in the Dominican Republic in Figures (Dominicana en Cifras), a publication by the National Statistics Office, as reported in Diario Libre.
In 2014, of 4.3 million Dominicans of the economically active population (looking for work), around 1.8 million were high school graduates. Within this group, the unemployment rate was 18.6%, much higher than for people with university level studies, with 14.2%, or with primary schooling, which was 12%.
