French pilots lived in Punta Cana residential area
Listin Diario reports that the two French pilots that recently fled the Dominican judiciary, Pascal Fauret and Bruno Odos, were last seen when they closed the rental contract on Apartment D-2 on the second floor of Las Terrazas, in El Cortecito, Bavaro in the Punta Cana area. As reported in the Listin Diario, the two men were allowed to remain in “domiciliary arrest” that facilitated their escape, despite having been convicted to 20 years in jail for trafficking in cocaine. Listin Diario reports that the men spent most of their time connected to the Internet at the Sole restaurant on the Punta Cana beach. The furnished apartment they rented for US$1,200 included power and cable TV. As reported, the two pilots paid all their bills prior to leaving and had no outstanding monetary debts.
In an op-ed contribution to Hoy, Fernando Rodriguez asks where was the Attorney General and the Supreme Court of Justice president when judge Elka Reyes Olivo allowed the two pilots to exchange preventive incarceration for the lax domiciliary arrest.
