French Ambassador confirms pilots tried for other drugs cases
The recently arrived Ambassador of France Jose Gomez has disclosed that fugitive French pilots Jean Pascal Fauret and Victor Bruno Odos are under investigation in France for three other drug trafficking cases, rather than for the case involving 700 kilos of cocaine for which they were sentenced to 20 years in jail in the Dominican Republic. The pilots fled with the help of influential people from France while awaiting appeal against their case. Facilitating their escape, they had earlier succeeded in getting the courts to change their status from preventive custody to house arrest.
The French ambassador mentioned that the other cases had occurred in December 2012 and also in 2013 when the pilots allegedly brought a cocaine shipment into St. Tropez on a flight from Puerto Plata. They are also being processed for another shipment to an undisclosed European city.
