Four injured in shooting in Coco Bongo, Punta Cana
At least four people were injured during a shootout at the Coco Bongo Discotheque in Punta Cana in the early hours of Saturday morning, 21 November 2015. As reported in El Nuevo Diario, the Police confirmed that during the nightclub’s first anniversary celebrations, customers Puerto Rican Porfirio Garcia, Ivan Garcia de la Cruz and 21-year old Colombian Luisa Hoyo Fernandez had an argument with several unnamed Puerto Rican tourists. The security guard ordered the three to leave but they demanded to be readmitted and were denied entry by a Police captain. El Dia reports that the three then went to their vehicles to get their firearms and started shooting. The Police said that 48-year old police captain Thomas Alejandro Puello de los Santos received five bullet wounds, as well as a 29-year old Polish tourist, Yohanna Golebiewska, who was shot in her right wrist, and Colombian Luisa Fernandez. The injured were hospitalized in Punta Cana.
