Forest fire affected the communities of Madre Vieja y Loma Bajita de Sosúa
PUERTO PLATA A huge forest fire is sweeping several acres of land and vegetation from noon yesterday (Thursday) in the hills of the Mother and Loma Vieja communities Bajita in the town of Sosua.
According to the report the journalist Junior Henríquez, in view of the seriousness of this fire to the place about 30 men showed up, who are employees of the Provincial Department of Environment which tried to work on the construction of trails and “guardacandela” to control advancing the flames.

It was noted that the two aircraft of the Air Force Dominican Republic (FARD) have a special device that allows the two aircraft take water from the sea and then throw on the flames that have destroyed hundreds of meters of vegetation in the area.
The Director of Environment in Puerto Plata; Mr. Carlos Finke said that they are doing all mitigation actions flames and consistent efforts to give the desired results to quell this fire, which is doing so much damage in the hills of Los Castillos, La Colorada and El Loma Bajita Guano, places that have burned a lot in recent days, but now with this prolonged drought.
