The Ministry of Interior and Police has announced that the deadline for foreigners to request the legalization of their status in the Dominican Republic under the National Foreigner Legalization Plan expires on 17 June 2015 at 4pm. The plan consists of free fast-tracked procedures for the legalization. The measure benefits everyone with irregular status who has lived in the DR since 19 October 2011 and who either entered irregularly and stayed or entered legally on a visa or tourist card.
Foreigners are advised to visit the National Foreigner Legalization Plan offices at provincial governors headquarters or at the Ministry of Interior and Police in Santo Domingo.
In an advertisement published in El Dia today, Thursday 7 May 2015, the Ministry of Interior and Police states that it will respond to applicants who have completed and submitted the documentation for legalization and have not yet received an answer no later than 45 days after the expiry date.
