Festival in New York for former Puerto Plata residents
Sunday August 2nd, for the eleventh year, there was a festival in New York for the former residents of the province of Puerto Plata. The event opened with a gala dinner. The president Jesús Burgos of the organizing committee gave a speech in which he called for solidarity and promotion of tourism throughout the province of Puerto Plata. He brought to the attention the unique developments in connection with the construction of a cruise ship port in Maimón. This will rise the number of tourists visiting Puerto Plata considerably.
On this Sunday, there was a great party in the Randall’s Island Park with performances by various merengue and bachata artists. Thanks to sponsorship by the Delancer company and some wealthy families from Sosúa several residents of Sosúa could attend this year the festival in Randall’s Island Park and enjoy the fun.
The cable company Delancer also handed out printed T-shirts to all participants. The Deputy Minister of Tourism César José de los Santos was there and took the opportunity to promote the Puerto Plata province. He had a meeting with various representatives of travel agencies and tourism organizations to promote Puerto Plata, Maimón, Sosúa and Cabarete as an attractive vacation destination.
