Entrepreneurs of Pedro Clisante are very dissatisfied
The city council in early November ordered to start the renovation of the main street Pedro Clisante. During a meeting in May, where entrepreneurs were also present, they agreed with the renovation. But the entrepreneurs (restaurant and bar owners) had hoped and expected that the work would take place prior to the high season. More over, the removal of the sidewalks and the cutting down of the trees started during the high season (the high season from November to March). Removing the sidewalks to Alberto went smoothly. The new curb stones came soon. Then the work got stalled. For more than a week there wasn’t much progress and this part of the street looked like a landfill.
Suddenly, on Saturday, December 5th a work crew showed up equipped with an aerial platform. The beautiful trees in front of cafe Cubana (with the best coffee in Sosúa) had it coming. It was so beautiful to sit there in the shadow of these very leafy trees. All passers-by and also the business owners are wondering if anyone lost his mind. The street would be done in parts? The first part is now a mess, and the second part, after cutting down the trees also! Entrepreneurs tell us that they’ve been already suffering from lost sales. If the street is not finished soon, this loss will only increase.
