Easter Week preparations underway
The ministries of Health and Education have announced that they will be coordinating an education program to promote public safety during this year’s Easter Week vacation.
The campaign “Healthy Easter Week 2015″ is being coordinated by the Plan to Reduce Traffic Deaths (Premat) under the Ministry of Public Health.
The deputy minister for Collective Health, Dr. Jose Manuel Puello, announced that the Public Health and the Education Ministries wanted to improve the culture of hygiene by teaching people to wash their hands and take care when handling raw food.
He said there would also be talks and leaflet distribution on subjects like how to stop using drugs and alcohol abuse, the causes of so many road traffic accidents.
Premat director Dr. Alberto Diaz said that the aim was to educate teachers, students and parents on preventing traffic accidents, including using seat belts and helmets, and avoiding alcohol consumption and using cell phones when driving.
Easter Week begins on 30 March and lasts until Sunday 5 April 2015.
