DR willing to help Haiti improve customs taxes system
Foreign Minister Andres Navarro says that the Dominican government is willing to support and advise Haiti on strengthening its import systems in order to help the neighboring country increase import tax collections.
According to Navarro, the best way for Haiti to improve its Customs collections is by not imposing a ban on land imports. He said that the Haitian authorities needed to understand the negative impact that the ban ordered for 23 Dominican products would have on its own people.
He said that at present, there is no political dialogue with the Haitian authorities, with the exception of migratory issues.
