Dominican Republic has a new opposition leader
SANTO DOMINGO. Licentiate Luis Abinader became the presidential candidate of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) in the early hours of this morning, as he went ahead of Hipolito Mejia in the first bulletin of the nominating convention by account of 45,809 votes against 18,139.
In some brief comments he made at the Computer Ctr., Abinader reported that starting tomorrow (today he would knock on all the doors necessary in order to achieve a broad convergence of political forces with the aim of winning the 2016 elections.
Very early this morning it was reported that Abinader, Mejia, Geanilda Vasquez and Amaury Justo Duarte will appear in public during the day to recognize the triumph of Abinader.
The first bulletin gives Geanilda Vasquez 613 votes and Amaury Justo Duarte 301 votes.
The first bulletin came out after 1:30 in the morning today with 428 polling stations counted, of a total of 2698 (16%).
The bulletin included 65,033 valid votes and 1421 annulled votes.
